Panchavati, on the banks of the Godavari, is where most visitors begin. Ramkund, the Kapaleshwar Mahadev temple, the Kalaram temple and Sita Gufa are all close to one another.
Plan your walk
Start early, when the ghats are calmer. Wear footwear that is easy to remove at temples, and keep a small bag for your belongings.
Be respectful
Ramkund is a place of ritual, including the immersion of ashes. Ask before photographing people and ceremonies.
Stay safe at the water
Ghat steps are slippery. Bathe only in designated areas and keep children within reach. Read our river and ghat safety guidance before you go.
